Too much exploitation happens in the world. It has always happened but that is no excuse. The power of the photographer to expose these injustices should never be underestimated.

Please watch this video ~I made for the Casa del Migrante `Tijuana. `it is important to let people know that there are volunteers who are willing to give their time and effort to help others without asking for anything in return.

Adel Hakimjan was one of 22 Uyghurs captured in the Afghan / Pakistan border area in late 2001. Sold to American forces by bounty hunters, he was subsequently transferred to Guantanamo. In 2006, he was released to Albania after being found not guilty of terrorist activity.

Dear bloggers at FMO,

I have been following your blog and wonder whether Survival's satirical cartoon booklet might be of interest? We've been using it extensively to simply communicate what is wrong with imposing external notions of development on indigenous communities. We've had some strongly positive feedback - Mary Robinson, for example, said: '"Oren Ginzburg's little book contains the big message that we must avoid the arrogance of presuming to know what's best for those whose voices are not heard in global debates. It reminds us of our shared responsibility to see to it that all people are active participants in shaping the decisions that impact their lives. Only then can we hope to see real development.'"

Another Survival publication is called 'Progress Can Kill' describing how imposed development destroys the health of tribal peoples' - a considerably more somber approach to the same issue, drawing on case studies from around the world.

Our links to the publications are: http://www.survivalinternational.org/thereyougo and http://www.survivalinternational.org/progresscankill

I'd also be happy to send you a complimentary copy of There You Go! by post.

Your assistance with conveying this all important message would be greatly appreciated.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Kind Regards,
Katrin

Well thats the issue i think, their country is not doing much to help resolve their problems. Well i do belive that migration is a need when you are facing persecution and life endangering situations. As for the issue of migrating to other countries like Australia and so forth - this is a very difficult endeavor. Australia and other such developing countries are reluctant to take in asylum seekers. One must first get refugee status from the UNHCR before such a move can take place, and we all know how difficult refugee status is to attain.
